Alila Manggis Bali is located in the eastern part of the island, just a short distance from Candidasa.
It's pretty isolated far away from the tourist crowds and that's exactly what most travellers want who are staying here.
If you are seeking a couple of days of total peace of mind while indulging in top Balinese service then this might be an option for you...

Welcome to the Alilla Manggis in East Bali
While Alila hotel Ubud Bali is located in an amazing tropical valley, Alila Manggis Bali offers sea front scenery and ultimate cuisine.
Alila Manggis is one of the Bali hotels that is part of the Design Hotels.
When you arrive at the reception you can find large picture books of designer hotels, including the Alila itself.
The bedrooms at the Alila Manggis Bali are located in three main buildings, all facing the pool and sea.
The Superior rooms are located on the ground floor and have big sliding doors leading you to a verandah and to the pool premises.

It's nice to be on the ground floor, but don't expect too much privacy as other guests will be walking straight past your room.
For more privacy I highly recommend the Deluxe rooms on the upper level. It has a balcony with a comfortable day bed. From here there is a great view on the resort premises.
The Alila Manggis Bali also has two Suites that offer a far more spacious bedroom, bathroom with bath, living and dining area. The balcony is also very big and it surrounds the suites.
So if you want to ensure that your room provides everything you want, consider booking one of the Suites.

Like many resorts along the this part of the island, Alila Manggis Bali does not have a beach but it's always possible to go for a swim.
If you have enough of the pool then you have to head towards the Alila Spa. To be honest I had pretty high expectations of the spa since every time I read something about Alila the spa was hugely praised.
But when I arrived at the Spa I thought it was pretty small for such a big resort. Luckily they also have a spa building directly at sea and this one is spacious.
Note that there is also an independant spa just across the street from the Alilla Manggis so you might try your luck here too.

Besides total relaxation, the resort has other wonderful activities for you to do so you have enough possibility to enjoy the wonders of the life and culture in East Bali.
You can arrange a driver to take you but there are even guides who will take you on a trekking tour through the amazing Balinese landscape dominated by the Gunung Agung and numerous rice terracess.
Other great things are a visit to a white tropical beach, deep sea-fishing, white water rafting, diving, mountain biking and more.

hen staying at the resort it is a must to experience the delicious food at the award-winning Seasalt Restaurant.
Here the chefs only serve dishes made from fresh ingredients produced locally. Their concept is fresh, healthy and real cuisine. So prepare for something really delicious...
For instance if you feel like enjoying a wonderful sunrise breakfast or a private candle light dinner, the restaurant can arrange one at the beach front in a romantic gazebo.
Other unforgettable breakfast locations are in the tropical hills of the Manggis area or at the bright white beach called Pasir Putih (meaning 'white sand'...and believe me the sand is definitely white here).

Besides munching away on all the goodies, you can also join the popular cooking classes organized by Seasalt restaurantt
Besides eating good food and relaxing all day, there are tours around the area as well.
You can arrange a driver to take you but there are even guides who will take you on a trekking tour through the amazing Balinese landscape dominated by the Gunung Agung.

Alila Manggis is a very good option to stay in Bali if you don't mind being far from the tourist destinations in the south. The area is one of our favorites since the 'real Bali' is still very much alive here.
Alila Manggis is very popular during high season, so make sure they confirm you actually have a room there.
Sometimes the resort is overbooked and they relocate their guests to nearby hotels.
The average internet price per night for the Deluxe Room is around $130 US, while the Suites are around $250 US.
