Stay in the Tropical Garden that is The Bali Padma Hotel...
The Bali Padma Hotel is located right on the sandy beach of Legian, just north of Kuta.
Even the street is named after them, Jalan Padma and it connects the beach with the main shopping street of Jalan Legian where you can hunt for some nice bargains.
The first thing I noticed when driving inside the hotel grounds were the numerous tropical trees and flowers and this continues throughout the hotel with the rooms perfectly set in the shade of these trees.

Enjoying the setting...
Every room has the availability of a spacious balcony from where you can hear the sound of the crickets before going to bed.
It gives the hotel an I’m-living-in-the-tropics kind of look and makes you feel at the right spot to spend your days in shorts and flip-flops.
They should have called the hotel 'The Bali Park Hotel' or 'The Bali Flower Hotel' because this is what the hotel is really about.
Flowers, Balinese statues and temple gates are everywhere and you can find the swimming pool surrounded by palm trees at the back of the hotel near the beach.

The lush tropical garden
The swimming pool is big enough to do your early morning laps or to use for dipping at the hottest hour of the day since it gets really busy during the day.
It might be a problem to get yourself some of the sun loungers so arrive early if you want to hang around the pool all day.
Otherwise swimming in the evening is perfect, right under the stars and it's open till 9pm. Pool bar is also still open so 'Pinacolada anybody?

Padma's lazy zone...
For those travellers looking for some more action there is also a gym and two tennis courts on the premises.
If you're interested in cooking the hotel provides Indonesian cooking classes where you'll learn about all the ingredients of mouth-watering dishes.
There are 9 different types of rooms at the Bali Padma hotel and if I would recommend any of the rooms it would obviously be the rooms on the ground floor where you have direct access to the garden such as the Garden Club Chalet.
The cool thing about this Garden Club Chalet is that you have also access to the Garden Club lounge with extras such as complimentary cool drinks starting in the morning at 10 am, free internet, laundry coupons and afternoon tea service between 3pm-5pm with snacks and ice cream.
Another great thing are the free cocktails, beers or wines between 5pm-7pm.
Furthermore between the pool and the beach you’ll find the romantic sunset bar where you can have another aperitif and last rays of sunlight before going for dinner at the Japanese Teppanyaki Tenkai restaurant or the stylish Bella Rosa Italian restaurant with terrace upstairs on the left side.

View from Bella Rosa restaurant
The Bali Padma goes for the extra mile and has directed a couple of strong lights straight at the ocean breaks so you can enjoy your dinner in a beautiful setting.
If this still hasn't brought your relationship to another level the hotel provides a romantic location to watch the stunning sunset and to enjoy the special company.
If you don't like eating at the resort every day there are enough restaurants around the corner. One of our favorites is Tekor restaurant and Ristorante Italia.

Sunset bar at the Bali Padma hotel
I can recommend this hotel if you like to stay Legian beach, the Bali Padma got it right with the Balinese design, attentive service and is perfectly located near shops and restaurants.
The only minor point I could find at the Padma hotel was the busy swimming pool and some kids splashing around.
It's a nuisance to find other guest having their bags or books on the sun loungers while they probably returned to bed.
Average price per night is around $246 USD for the Garden Club Chalet but it might be cheaper depending on the season and a special deal.
