Candi Beach Cottages, relax under the coconut trees...

After visiting Candi Beach Cottages my girlfriend and I both agreed that this was one of the nicest places to stay if you are looking for a resort in the Candi dasa area.

It is ideally located under the palm trees where you can walk around safely since they remove the coconuts on a daily basis ;-)

For us, palm trees just make the picture complete during a holiday on a tropical island. On the other hand, while many Candi dasa hotels do not have a beach, this resort kind of does.

It has patches of sand were you can wade in the water during low tide. At high-tide you can relax at the infinity pool with a superb sea view.

This 4-star Bali beach resort is ideal for couples or families who want to spend time relaxing at the pool but who also plan to explore the cultural and natural beauties of East Bali.

We found out that the resort offers a large range of activities and tours which will definitely suit any kind of traveler; young, old, active or the somewhat 'lazy'...

 

 

The resort offers great trekking routes that will bring you to all kinds of places in the area, but they also have snorkeling-and diving tours, rafting tours, village tours and tours to the mother temple Besakih, cultural Ubud or the mountainous area around Kintamani.

Besides their great location near the sea and under numerous palm trees, the accommodation at Candi Beach Cottages is really appealing.

Most of the rooms have recently been renovated but we highly recommend staying at the Deluxe rooms since they are the ones with a view on the palm tree garden.

There are four types of rooms to choose from: the superior or deluxe room and the superior cottage or deluxe cottage.

The differences between deluxe and superior is mostly the location and view plus an extra dvd-player in the room.

Furthermore the deluxe rooms are located on the ground floor and these rooms have a private terrace, while the superior rooms are located on the second floor.

For families with kids the cottages are an even better option as the double rooms are connected with a door which can be unlocked when required.

All rooms are equipped with a bathroom that has a bathtub and shower, personal safe, hairdryer, tea & coffee making facilities, satellite tv, in-house movies, air conditioning, mini bar, music and a terrace or balcony.

I really liked the infinity pool located next to the field of palm trees facing the magnificent ocean.

It's a pretty large pool and provides enough space for a good swim. But most of all, I just can't get enough of the views and the way the water of the pool seems to emerge with that of the ocean.

The second pool is located right next to the restaurant and is also quit big. On top of that there is a pool bar where drinks such as cocktails and beers are served.

For those who really want to spend their days at the beach then Candi dasa is generally not the place to go. However this Candidasa hotel has created a 'sort of beach' that might satisfy sunbathers as well...

It is even possible to go for a swim in the sea at low tide but it's also fun to paddle away in a canoe or to do some snorkeling. Canoes and snorkeling gear are free to use for 1,5 hour.

In the morning when the sun rises behind Nusa Penida Island it's time to head for the buffet at the restaurant near the second pool. I must admit that the restaurant was not as attractive as I expected. With its 80's-look it needed some renovation.

The terrace on the other hand is a great place to hang out. It has a splendid view on Mendira Bay. Make sure that you are on time for breakfast, because these are the best seats.

Unfortunately the restaurant is a bit over priced and it not really worth eating at. This is no exception in Candi dasa since most hotels and restaurants in Candidasa lack the quality which we are used to in the south of Bali.

If you are staying in Candi dasa and plan to do some fine dining it's best to head to Vincent's or Toke restaurant located in Candi dasa.

With all the activities that Candi Beach resort has to offer, I almost forgot one other important facility: the spa. Always upon arrival at a resort my girlfriend wants to check out the spa-facilities first. To be honest, she was quite disappointed.

The resort has two Balinese Pavilions where you can enjoy a traditional Balinese massage with view and sounds of the ocean nearby.

Ok, it's the best location you can imagine but my girlfriend thought it was a pity that it wasn't possible to receive any other spa treatments since there are no facilities for it yet.

Fortunately the resort understands that this needs to be improved and we heard that they have plans to upgrade the spa.

So hopefully very soon it will be possible to enjoy a day-spa whenever you feel like being pampered from head till toe with massages, masks, scrubs and a flower petal bath. Ahhh can't wait...

In the meantime if you feel like a day of ultimate relaxation head to the Rama Resort and Spa located next door. It's a great option if you want to enjoy the many facilities this Candi Beach Cottage but also want to have a luxurious spa treatment.

But hopefully this little tip can be disregarded once Candi Beach cottages has their own spa...;-)

All in all Candi Beach Cottages is a great place to spend a couple of nights during your holiday especially when the resort is included in a tour package or when you are passing through during your travels in this part of east Bali.
