Classy
ambiance and wonderful cuisine at Gabah Restaurant Kuta
Gabah restaurant Kuta is the place to be if you are looking for a
wonderful evening out where quality food is served in a great
atmosphere.
This is the spot where you will easily spend the whole
evening enjoying a three dinner course. But if you just want
to have breakfast or lunch or even high tea then this is a terrific option too.
Gabah restaurant belongs to the Ramayana Hotel
and is located on the corner of one of the main roads that runs through
Kuta.
But despite the busy road, I didn't even notice it when lounging away in
Gabah.
The restaurant is semi open, creating a real Balinese setting
and a spacious feeling.
When my girlfriend and I had dinner here we decided to take a seat
in the lounge area, on the couch with comfortable pillows. Here we were
able to relax with a drink while waiting for our dinner.
Besides wines, the bar serves refreshing cocktails as well.
We highly recommend the 'Gabah in Paradise' cocktail. This mixture
of fresh ginger with lime cordial, fresh lychee and apple
juice will ensure that you experience a fantastic tropical taste that you
will not find at home...
If you want to keep away from alcohol, Gabah also serves a delicious
mocktail prepared with fresh pineapple, mint leaves, brown sugar and
soda water.
Sounds good,
right?

Wait till I tell you more about the food they serve.
The majority of the dishes that Gabah Restaurant Kuta serves is
Indonesian and Balinese.
When glancing at the menu you might wonder why
these dishes are much more expensive than the restaurants around the
corner that serve Balinese food too.
Well, in this case the
price equals the quality of the food.
Here you can expect ultimate tasty Balinese food, exactly how it is
supposed to be. It is obvious that the chefs have used the best
ingredients in the right quantities resulting into a mouthwatering
dish.
And for every dish you can expect that it is beautifully served;
picture perfect...

Try the ikan
pepes at Gabah...it's terrific.
On the menu you
will find other international dishes as well such as salads,
sandwiches, pastas and even grilled chicken served in Sage and
Tarragon together with green peas and mashed potatoes.
So there is practically enough
choice for everyone.
If you want to
enjoy the whole evening trying out Gabah's food and ambiance go for the
set courses. Here you can expect the best dishes starting with the aperitif and ending with a treat for dessert.
When I was here, I decided to order a very traditional Balinese dish:
ikan pepes which is fish cooked with herbs in a banana leave.
This is
actually one of my favorite Balinese dishes and whenever I see it on
the menu I go for it...
After eating a large number of 'ikan pepes' dishes I can tell when
a ikan pepes is a real ikan pepes or not. And believe me, ikan
pepes at Gabah is the
real thing!

The kitchen is open so you can
see the chefs busy preparing dishes.
Gabah is also the spot to try out the traditional
Indonesian 'Rijsttafel'. If you order this then you will be in for a
feast.
Nine different dishes will be placed on your table so you can
taste the best that Bali has to offer...
All in all, I don't recommend the Gabah Restaurant Kuta if you are
looking for a place to grab a quick bite.
It is a restaurant that
not only serves
quality cuisine, but attracts people because of their great
atmosphere too.
The open kitchen in which you can see the chefs
preparing various dishes together with the stylish interior and good music create
the right
atmosphere of a place where you just want to spoil yourself.
Gabah restaurant is a popular restaurant in Kuta
and is always packed, especially for breakfast and dinner.
So if you want to be sure to have a table, make reservations
or just get there on time.
As mentioned before, it isn't the
cheapest
restaurant (but still cheap: 7 to 10USD for the main course) compared
to others in town, but trust me
you'll understand why once you have eaten here.
