Stay in luxury at the Intercontinental Hotel Bali right on the beach

The Intercontinental Hotel Bali is located just under the airport on Jimbaran Bay.

Amazingly though, when standing on the beach you can see in the far distance large aircrafts taking-off but don’t worry you won’t hear the noise from its engines.

It's not hard to find the Intercontinental Hotel. There are different entrances to the main building with its own security posts.

Despite being huge, the Intercontinental Hotel Bali has been able to remain a classy and relaxing atmosphere. The whole hotel is decorated with a subtle Balinese touch.

The corridors even look very fancy with its dark colored wood and beige walls. There are even sitting corners throughout the hotel that have a comfortable living-room glow.

The staff at the Intercontinental Hotel is very polite and helpful. Something I always need to get used to after just arriving from Europe where service is becoming more extinct.

The Japanese garden consists of big ponds with flowered trees on the side. Near the spa you'll find a beautiful place to sit that looks out over the garden.

Just next to the spa there is a 24 hours gym; very convenient if you are struggling with a jet lag.

The gym was pretty small compared to the size of the hotel, but it has all the equipment you need for a full-body workout. So at the end, size does not really matter...does it?

There are many places to choose from if you are looking for a nice place to eat. The Intercontinental Hotel Bali has 5 types of restaurants, including an Italian and Japanese restaurant and 3 bars, each with its own unique atmosphere.

A large area of the hotel is designated for the swimming pools and its gardens. There are three types of swimming pools. The largest swimming pool has two bars on either side and overlooks the beautiful Jimbaran bay.

The second pool has a Balinese temple style with statues of Balinese women holding jugs of water pouring straight into the pool. A nice detail is the Balinese styled umbrellas at each beach chair.

The third pool is less prominent when coming from the main building. It is surrounded by large canopies (gazebo) where two people can comfortably sit at the pool.

A gazebo is perfect and more luxurious substitute for the regular beach chairs. Besides being very comfortable with its soft-cushioned mattresses, it is also a very romantic way to spend the day together and enjoy a delicious lunch.

What I think is pretty good about the hotel is the availability of gazebos everywhere, on the grass, near the pools and at the beach.

The Intercontinental hotel Bali is located at the beautiful Jimbaran beach. The sea is very comfortable to swim in and the soft-white-sandy beach is very clean.

There are many places to sit at the beach because the hotel has provided different strips of beach on its premises. This also ensures that hawkers do not come to the beach to sell their souvenirs.

Just around the corner at the beach you'll find our favorite seafood restaurants that we love coming back to.

So if you feel like eating somewhere different, just walk for 5 minutes along the beach and choose from the many open-air restaurants that serve delicious grilled fish fresh from the sea.

On top of that, you can enjoy the beautiful sunset, followed by a candle light dinner accompanied by the breeze and sounds of the ocean.

Pros: right at a beautiful beach, great breakfast, different pool areas

Cons: large chain hotel (if you prefer small scale resorts), high prices for internet services (complentary for Club IC guests)
