Khaima
Restaurant Seminyak is located on Jalan Oberoi and with its nomadic
tent at the entrance it definitely stands out from the other
restaurants located on
this busy eat-street.
When
we were driving around Seminyak in search for a place to eat
we immediately hit the
breaks when we saw Khaima.
We love Middle-Eastern food and from the look of it we were at the right place.

As soon as you set food in the restaurant you will leave Bali behind
for the evening. The beautiful
decorations and colors will make you feel like you have
just entered a huge nomadic tent in the
middle of the Moroccan dessert.
The
Khaima Restaurant, Lounge and Bar serves authentic Moroccan food. And
just as the interior, their food is terrific...
One
glance on the menu and we immediately knew that it was going to be
difficult to decide what to order.
Their selection of drinks and dishes are pretty extensive and all of them sound delicious and exciting...

This was our first taste of Moroccan food for months, so it was pretty
difficult to resist order more than we could eat...
It already started with the drinks.
Besides alcoholic drinks they also serve other types of drinks such as
almond milk which is high in protein, vitamin E and all kind of
minerals.
For those who feel 'flustered' they serve a
refreshing drink of Melon and Mint Juice. Ideal during warm nights in
Bali...
Other terrific
combinations are
pineapple, ginger and lemon juice or carrot, orange and ginger juice.
Again, both having positive effects on your body. So definitely worth
to
try out before enjoying your dinner...

As for the food...
Not surprisingly from an authentic Moroccan restaurant, Khaima
Restaurant Seminyak serves couscous
in all
kinds of combinations: with kebabs, grilled
Marrocan spicy sausages or
vegetarian together with seven types of vegetables...
Another
traditional dish is the Tagine where the meat is stewed in special
earth stoneware. One bite from this dish will make your taste buds
spin as the herbs are slowly cooked into the meat making it extra
tasty.
Lamb is usually used for this type of dish but at Khaima they
also
serve chicken-tagine.
Besides meat kebabs there are also fish dishes
all with a Moroccan touch. The Calamari Fil Fil sounds
delicious: calamari stuffed with Moroccan rice and cooked in a spicy
tomato sauce.

For those who prefer to skip the meat the two vegetarian dishes are really good. First of all there is the vegetarian couscous.
My girlfriend
on the other hand ordered the "Warm Vegetarian Mixed Tobsels". This is
an ideal dish if you
want to try all kind of small bites as the plate is filled with
different kinds of salads, spinach and feta cheese briwatte.
She seemed to be enjoying
every bite as there were so much different tastes in this
dish...
I decided to go for my favorite Moroccan dish: the Lamb Kebab or
"Mechoui". It was perfect. The flavor created by the many different
herbs made a perfect blast every time I took a bite.

Once dinner is finished it is not time to leave yet. In the back of the
restaurant has created a
perfect setting to lounge away on the sofas and the many pillows.
And to make the whole picture complete you smoke a 'shisha' while
enjoying the belly dancers who perform every Friday and Saturday
evening.
I can imagine when you are traveling in Bali you would not expect to eat authentic Moroccan cuisine. But the Morroccan flavors can be a nice change when eating out in Bali.

We had a great time and
enjoyed our dinner immensely. Khaima Restaurant Seminyak
definitely impressed us with their different tastes and the amazing
Moroccan food and atmosphere.
Give Khaima Restaurant Seminyak a try and you won't be sorry...;-)
