Lady Bamboo Villa, tucked away in the heart of Ubud

Every now and then you discover a wonderful place to stay. Lady Bamboo villa was for us one of those places...

When in Ubud my girlfriend and I like to stay in Jalan Kajeng, as it is near the center of Ubud but far enough from the commercialized Monkey Forest Road.

So when we happened to be in Ubud again, we immediately went to this street to check out a new place to stay.

Somewhere in the middle of Jalan Kajeng we turned left and followed a path down. Eventually, towards the river gorge we found a gate.

 

Welcome to Lady Bamboo Villa...

 

There was a doorbell with a note telling us to call the staff to open the doors. But the door was already opened so we peaked our heads inside and the friendly staff immediately welcomed us to this wonderful place.

As soon as we entered we knew that we had found another perfect gem....

Built in 2006 this Bali accommodation is well maintained and beautifully decorated with paintings and wooden furniture.

A small path covered with tropical plants takes you to the rooms, to the dining area, the reception and the cute swimming pool. The size of the swimming pool is just right as it fits perfectly in the tropical picture.

When we arrived we just felt like jumping in. With the green vegetation in the background and the calls of birds and insects, it's a wonderful place to relax and cool down.

I'm a bit confused about their name though. When I arrived I expected to find a Bali luxury villa such as the ones you can find in Seminyak but this of accommodation can be considered as a different kind of villa with individual rooms and suites instead.

They have three types of rooms all with double beds, big bathroom, A/C, fan, private terrace and daily cleaning service.

The interior of every room is different giving each visit a bit of a uniqueness. Unless you have found your favorite room of course...;-)

But all of the rooms are nicely decorated with colorful paintings, Balinese furniture and subtle accessories. The owners have also installed lights which create a perfect atmosphere in the evenings.

There are three room categories starting with the Deluxe room that have all the facilities you need, followed by the Garden Suite.

The suites are bigger than the Deluxe Room and have more extra's such as satellite tv, DVD/CD player, Ipod equipped with a large music collection etc.

 

 

If you are traveling with three or four people then it is also possible to add more beds to the suites.

The third and more luxurious room is the Riverside suite.

Besides all the facilities mentioned above the Riverside suite has a big bath tube, their own private terrace overlooking the river and a bale (sort of gazebo).

Breakfast is included and served in their dining area. There are only two big tables so when it's busy you just join the other guests.

It creates a very informal atmosphere and you get this feeling that you are enjoying homemade cooking at someone's home.

Lady Bamboo Villa promotes Balinese cooking and it's even possible to learn how to prepare several of the famous Balinese dishes.

However when we stayed here we didn't even realize they organize these lessons. We found out just before check-out.

So make sure you ask about it when you arrive, otherwise you might miss out on a tasty breakfast or any other Balinese dish.

We had a wonderful time in Lady Bamboo Villa and wished we could have stayed a bit longer.

We slept like a baby at night because it was possible to keep the windows open as they were all equipped with wire netting to prevent the mosquito's coming in.

You could feel and smell the fresh air and the best of all you could hear the crickets and every other unknown critter doing their business at night.

The rooms are very clean and the housekeeping makes the beds every day. The shower is also spacious so you can easily move around. It even has a big shower head.

Just a small detail, but worth mentioning I think.

Lady Bamboo Villa is the perfect Bali accomodation to have the real tropical Balinese feeling that this area is so famous for. When we are in Ubud again we will definitely go back to this gem on Jalan Kajeng.
