Highlights of the Rama Candidasa hotel

The Rama Candidasa hotel also known as the Rama Candidasa Resort & Spa is located in the southern part of Candidasa on Jalan Raya Sengkidu.

It's right on the waterfront but like many other resorts in Candi dasa there's no beach here, just some patches of sand during low tide.

If you love to stroll along the beach then check out the beautiful beaches of Sanur, Jimbaran or Nusa Dua. But if you fancy to get away from the crowd then Candidasa is the place to go to...

 

 

Nonetheless the Rama Candidasa hotel has created a neat place with their sun loungers and swing day beds right under the palm trees on a man-made beach overlooking the Bay of Amuk. And I have to say the swimming pool doesn't look bad either...

Next to the swimming pool you can find the renovated zen-styled Garpu restaurant & Bar that serves International and Balinese dishes. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ahhh and what a view....

On the other hand like many other Candidasa resorts expect steep prices compared to the independent restaurants on Jalan Raya Candidasa.

The prices of food and drinks at the other Candidasa restaurants are 1/2 the price of Garpu restaurant but then again if you're staying here only for one night I understand you don't bother going into town ;-)

If you are staying here for a couple of days and would like to try out some other restaurants in Candi dasa it takes around 20 minutes on foot to get there. I wouldn't recommend walking though since there's no pavement and proper street-lighting.

There's no transport between the hotel and Candi dasa but fortunately you can give our favorite restaurants in Candi dasa a call: Toke restaurant, Vincent's, Rendez-Vous Restaurant and they love to pick you up from the hotel and drop you off again at no extra charge.

There are four types of rooms at Rama hotel Candidasa which are: superior twin, superior wings, deluxe cottage and the rama suite room. The only two rooms that we had a look at were the superior twin and the deluxe cottage but my girlfriend and I were not so impressed :-(

You have all the facilities you could think of such as air-conditioning, mosquito nets, radio/satellite TV, IDD telephone, mini-bar etc. but we thought that the rooms could use some work even though they were just 'renovated'.

The bathrooms were disappointing, they looked very basic with their plastic bathtubs and sinks and in colors you expect to find in budget accommodation.

For what you pay at the Rama Candidasa hotel we've found nicer Candidasa hotels such as Candi Beach Cottages or the mid-range Puri Bagus in northern Candidasa.

So why do I even mention the Rama Candidasa hotel then?

It's the spa...

The best thing about the Rama Candidasa hotel is Rama's Ambiente Spa. This spa is the best spa my girlfriend and I have found in the Candidasa area. It has just been built and looks as slick as can be.

 

Anybody interested in a pedicure treatment?

 

Even if you don't sleep here (which I can understand) this Bali spa is a good place to go to for some serious pampering....

Here they have every massage you could think of and also flower petal baths and outdoor showers to wash away all the herbs and mud they have been putting on you for hours.

If you do decide to stay here there are some other activities you can engage in as well such as a Balinese cooking class, yoga class, playing tennis, Balinese dance lesson, trekking and of course snorkeling and diving at Blue Lagoon in Padang Bai or Mimpi Islands, the three islands on Candidasa's coastline.

All in all the Rama Candidasa hotel has all the facilities you could wish for with highlights such as the swing beds under the palm trees, a gorgeous swimming pool and the fantastic spa.

Nonetheless the rooms at this resort didn't knock us off our feet especially what you pay for it and the bathrooms could use a make-over but hey that's just an opinion...
