Let your head spin at the Ramayana Hotel in Kuta...

The popular Ramayana Hotel and Spa is located on the busy Jalan Bakung Sari across the street from Kuta Square shopping street on one side and Jalan Kartika Plaza on the other side.

This is the area where you find the many boutiques, surf stores, coffee bars and the Matahari Department Store.

The Waterbom Park, Kuta Slingshot and Deejay Nightclub are not far away either, so are numerous restaurants and bars in the Discovery Mall.

Unfortunately the resort lacks a view on the ocean and it isn’t made out of bungalows solely like some of the other resorts I’ve been to.

What the hotel lacks in view or bungalows it makes up with their wide range of facilities and their choice of rooms.

You don’t have to go far...the beach with its beautiful orange/purple sunset is only a 5/10 minutes stroll from the Ramayana.

The first thing I noticed when I arrived at the hotel is the lobby. It’s classy, bright, and decorated with fresh tropical flowers.

The reception is very friendly and here they love to help you with tours around the island or any of the courses the resort offers such as Balinese cooking, dancing and Balinese music making.

I haven’t done any of the courses though, that’s something I would love to do in Ubud.

Anyway the Ramayana Hotel is one huge resort complex made out of 2 swimming pools, spa (under renovation when I was there), guest rooms, ATM machines, mini-mart, Nike shop, Guardian Drug Store, Levi’s store, a sport’s bar, the H.I.S. tourist information centre and several restaurants.

The hotel has a stylish, good restaurant called the Gabah restaurant and is one of the popular restaurants in this area of Kuta. The Gabah restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

It is also a great location to have a good glass of wine or tropical cocktail next to the pool.

If you don’t like to visit the Gabah restaurant three times a day there’s always a choice of Japanese in the Blue Fin Restaurant around the corner or the Asian Spice Restaurant at the end of the main building that serves various dishes from the major Asian cuisines.

Besides having dinner in these three restaurants you can also meet new people in the Stadium Cafe where they have live broadcast of the world’s most famous sports.

If this wasn’t enough to choose from they have divided the resort in six types of rooms: Superior rooms, Deluxe rooms, Poolside Cottages, Executive Deluxe Rooms, Family Rooms and Resort Club Rooms.

Not surprisingly the poolside cottages are the most popular one with a great view on the orchid garden and the pool.

The Executive Deluxe Rooms and Resort Club Rooms are located in the main building and specially designed for companies who schedule their meetings in a good resort while enjoying everything that crazy Kuta has to offer.

All in all I have to say that I really liked the mid-range Ramayana Hotel, their rooms are really value for money, the range of facilities for eating and shopping is one of the best and the atmosphere is everything you could wish for on a holiday or work holiday in Kuta :-)

Average price per night for the Poolside Cottages on hoteltravel.com below is around $111 USD incl. 21% tax and service, breakfast and incl. a 30-minute traditional welcome massage for 2, welcome flowers and fruit basket upon arrival and complimentary afternoon tea/coffee with snacks at the hotel's club lounge.
