Most of the Sanur Bali hotels are classy bungalows set between trees with colorful flowers, statues and verandas and this style has been copied throughout the rest of Bali.
Sanur is the first tourist resort village on the island and today it's very popular among older European travellers and this explains the clean, quiet streets and the relaxed atmosphere.
Here are the most popular Sanur Bali Hotels that I’ve come across on my travels...
Puri Santrian:
This hotel is one of the Sanur Bali hotels which is Balinese owned and operated.
It's in a class of itself with flowers on every statue, well-designed park, private pavilions on the water and a classy restaurant with a great atmosphere right on the beach. From all the Sanur resorts, this is probably my favorite.
This is also the place to try out the Seawalker...(around US$86-US$105 per night)
Bali Hyatt:
This hotel in Sanur Bali is a great option if you’re looking for a quiet place to stay with beautiful swimming pools and a gorgeous private beach.
The hotel is ideally located in Sanur. After a short walk to the left or right of the resort you can find terrific restaurants and bars so it is very easy to enjoy yourself outside the hotel premises as well... (around US$114-US$145 per night)
Mercure Resort:
They have their own private beach, stylish swimming pools, kids club, beautiful set bungalows, mini-rice field and even a Balinese cow grazing on the hotel grounds among travellers pampered by an open-air massage...
(around US$82-US$114 per night)
Peneeda Beach View Hotel:
This hotel is ideally located along Sanur's main road and its famous beach and has great rooms called the Club Lumbung. There are two pools and their restaurant has some stunning views...
(around US$47-US$60 per night)
Mentari Hotel:
This hotel is a small mid-range hotel located in a residential area on a couple of hundred meters from the fishermen harbour at Jalan Hang Tuah.
It has 28 rooms set between flowers and a turquoise pool...
(around US$55-US$63 per night)
Paradise Plaza:
This hotel is a huge hotel with the wooden statues of Garuda in the lobby, pieces of art on the walls and rooms that overlook the pool.
It has the biggest gym I’ve seen until now in all of the Sanur Bali hotels and there's a 9-hole golf course just around the corner...
(around US$62-US$153 per night)
Hotel La Taverna Bali:
This hotel is one of the oldest Balinese owned hotels and is located right on the beach with bungalows in a park like setting.
The beach front restaurant is a good place to hang out and watch life go by...
(around US$61-US$82 per night)
Villa Puri Ayu Resort Bali:
This characterfull hotel has wonderful rooms in bungalow buildings. You'll have your own verandah on the ground or first floor.
Besides the bungalows they have rooms in a modern styled building right at their swimming pool.
Puri Ayu is a popular place and ideally located in a side street, just a stone throw away from the beach and restaurants.
(around US$41-$49 per night)
Puri Mesari:
Eventhough this place is not that close to the action, it's one of our favorite Sanur Bali hotels.
It's a small Balinese complex with a pool, restaurant where breakfast is served and very friendly staff.
The whole setting reminds of Bali. The beach is about 15 minutes away on foot.
(around US$38-US$50 per night)
Puri Sindhu Mertha Guesthouse:
This guesthouse is located on Jalan Danau Poso, a road that takes you to the centre of Sanur.
It only has a couple of rooms set along a pool. The rooms are nicely decorated with Balinese furniture and breakfast is served on your own verandah. (around US$40 per night)
Puri Sindhu Mertha Suites:
We actually found this hotel by accident, as we were looking for the Shindu Mertha Guesthouse (see above)
It has the same owner and just as nice. But instead of a Balinese atmosphere this place has a very modern design.
The rooms are very spacious.
(around US$50 per night)
Even though Sanur Bali is a place mainly popular with older European travellers and package tourists who love to stay in luxury Sanur Bali hotels, it still has some good budget hostels to choose from.
They are often located on the side streets of Jalan Tambligan in the residential areas and offer more value for money than the budget Bali accommodations in Legian or Kuta beach.
