Indulge yourself in one of the many
Sanur spa's...

Sanur spa's can either be found at the many Sanur Bali hotels or mainly along Jalan Tamblingan.

At this street you will often find one of the staff members handing out flyers. So before entering, you can have a quick glance on what they have to offer.

Up till now I have be returning to Mandurah Spa every time I visit Sanur. I admit that it doesn't sound very adventurous, but if you find something good why not keep going back to it, right?

Other Spas in Sanur

Mandurah Spa, my favorite Sanur spa so far...

The Mandurah Spa in Sanur is tucked away in a side street of Jl. Danau Tamblingan. As mentioned before, it is up till now the best Sanur spa that I have visited so far.

The spa offers a full range of body treatments which makes it hard to choose from. They all sound great...

This Bali spa is one of the rare spa’s in Sanur that is very reasonable priced. The prices are even given in Indonesian Rupiahs instead of Dollars.

On the ground floor of this Sanur spa you can find facilities for treatments such as facial, pedicure, manicure or hair cream baths. All of them include a massage of the lower legs or shoulders and arms.

These moments of 1 hour total relaxations range from Rp.50.000 to Rp. 75.000.

Up till now I always went to this spa for a body massage. The spa has rooms for 1 person or 2 persons together.

So you can either choose to share the experience chatting away together in one room, or you can go for total silence while the professional staff gives you a massage that makes you doze off.

Before a body massage the staff leaves you alone for several minutes to undress and to put on underwear that the spa provides for hygienic purposes.

I just want to warn you...the underpants are not what I call ‘fancy’...Actually they are hilarious. At first I had no idea what they were. It looked more like a shower-cap..!

At least Matt's dad had a hard time figuring out what it really was...

The one-size-pamper-look-alike pants fits all, I assure you. At least the underpants provide a belly-pain-laugh before the real show begins...the massage.

The Mandurah Spa has a number of types of massages to choose from. All body-massages start with a massage using sandalwood or Frangipani oil. These are followed by several types of treatment, depending on what you choose.

I have tried three types of massages...not all in one holiday though :).

The first one was the Balinese Boreh which includes a warming body mask which is ideal for the flu or soothing aching muscles. After the massage the body is warmed up by a mud mask.

The second massage was the Milk Bath. Here the body-massage is followed by a milk body scrub and milk body mask. The mask feels pretty chilly after being warmed up by the massage, but the staff kindly wraps you up in a blanket so the mask can do its work.

Then...here comes the best part...after a couple of minutes it is time to rinse the mask off by stepping into a flower scented bath covered with flower petals.

Together with some warm ginger tea and a beautiful open air view of the garden you can enjoy the luxury that seems impossible to have at home.

My third massage at this Sanur spa was the Fruit Bath which was similar with the Milk Bath however other types of scrubs and masks were used. Likewise, a definite treat for you muscles and skin!

Besides the massages I have described above, there are many more. Straight at the entrance there is a list of massage treatments with a clear description.

The prices range from Rp.100.000 to Rp.140.000 for a 1.5 hour treatment. This includes 1 hour massage and scrub, 10 minutes masks and 20 minutes of immersing in the flowered bath tub.

If you want to have a Bali day spa there are also packages, one even includes lunch (this package lasts 5 hours so I can imagine you can get pretty hungry).

The packages are often a combination of body-massages and a pedicure, manicure of hair cream bath and can last between 2 hours to 5 hours. The prices range from Rp. 210.000 to Rp. 550.000

It is easy to go to this Sanur spa as they provide free pick up in Sanur area. Their phone number is (0361) 271502 and they are open from 9am to 9pm. So no reason for you to wait for some super pampering...

Other Sanur spa options

ayu spa sanurAyu Spa:
This Sanur spa is pretty new and besides being a spa its a beauty salon too.

In the front section of the building they offer hair cuts, hair spas, pedicure, manicure etc. while in the back section they have rooms for Balinese massages. There is even an option for a milk or flower bath.

If you have time left their package deals are very reasonable priced, just as their separate treatments. A 90 minute massage is Rp.90.000 while a package which includes a massage, facial and hair spa is Rp. 210.000. Ayu Spa is located on Jln Pantai Sindu 17 (tel: 081 338300905)

alam bali sanur spaAlam Bali:
This Sanur spa is more a spa where I would go to for a foot reflexology or a traditional facial treatment as they don't have nice private massage rooms that Bali spas are known for.

Instead they have curtains that separate you with others. If you are traveling with a friend it would be enjoyable though, as you can continue chatting while enjoying a massage.

But since they don't have the fancy spa rooms, the price of this spa is incredibly cheap. Balinese massages, stone massage, herbal therapy massage are between Rp.50.000 to Rp75.000. You can find this spa on Jalan Tamblingan 126 (tel: 081353309329)

natural spa in sanurNatural Spa:
This massive Sanur spa is located on Jalan Tamblingan and is not hard to miss. And despite being pretty expensive its parking space is usually packed with tourist buses towards the end of the afternoon.

The best time to go is early in the morning, as you will receive 50% discount at the door. My girlfriend enjoyed a traditional facial treatment here, however the many small spa rooms are not the most beautiful. Nevertheless the treatment was good and they have a jacuzzi a size of a swimming pool. (tel: 0361 283677/283688)
