Tegal Sari Ubud, right in the heart of the cultural village

Before I knew about Tegal Sari Ubud I always wondered who owned the beautiful white buildings facing the green rice fields in the center of the village.

I assumed it was privately owned, but soon enough I discovered that it belonged to Tegal Sari Accommodation located at Jalan Hanoman Street. 

 

 

Besides hotel rooms they now have 2 luxurious villas which have recently been opened in the beginning of 2008. 

The best thing about these villas is that while staying in the center of Ubud right in the middle of the rice fields, you are doing it all in style.

During your stay at the villas of Tegal Sari Ubud you can relish the modern interior, the beautiful and spacious bathroom, fully equipped private kitchen and of course your own private pool that you can use whenever you want.

There are two villa buildings on the premises, all with their private entrance.

First of all you have the Villa Sarang Bamboo that can accommodate 2 people. Next door you have the larger Villa Sesapi which has two levels. It can accommodate up to 4 people or 2 people downstairs and 2 people on the second floor.

As mentioned above 4 people can stay at Villa Sesapi however this villa is built in such away that if it's just the 2 of you then you can stay in one section of the villa only while maintaining total privacy.

A door that connects one level with the other will then be locked. Guests staying on the second level can then use their own private entrance and have the same amenities just like the villa on the ground level, except for a private pool.

 

 

Instead of the pool, the villa on the second level has a terrace with first class view of the beautiful rice fields around. 

Guests staying in this villa have of course unlimited access to the public swimming pool found at the Tegal Sari Accommodation just around the corner. 

As said before the interior of the villas are similar and they are beautifully decorated with dark wood, green plants and a touch of subtle colors in the accessories. 

 

 

I think it is really nicely done and with the setting of the villas in the rice fields, the entire interior creates a very relaxing and calm atmosphere.

Additionally it is possible to open the sliding windows which surround Sesapi villa on both sides, so you can feel and even smell the tropical breeze coming from the mountains over the rice fields...

 

 

If you are staying on the ground level you have access to your own private pool. The dark tiles of the pool are perfectly chosen and create a natural and warm co lour.

And when you relax and close your eyes you can hear the water of the pool overflowing onto small rocks. 

Don't you just love those little details that make things more than perfect..?

 

 

Inside the villa you'll find the big bedroom with a huge king size bed, flat screen satellite TV and a comfortable seating area.

The connecting bathroom is unexpectedly big as well. There is a step-in bathtub, a separate shower and two wash-basins all set in dark colored stone. 

Both the bedroom and bathroom are minimal decorated in order to maintain a spacious and stylish look...

The private kitchen in the villa is fully equipped and besides the usual cooking utensils there is even a water dispenser, a big fridge and a modern microwave. 

Nevertheless don't be ashamed if you are not planning to use this nice kitchen as there dozens of terrific restaurants within walking distance from the villa. 

 

 

Villa Sarang Burung

Villa Sarang Burung is the newest private villa of Tegal Sari Ubud. It's smaller then Villa Sesapi and is therefore ideal for couples who are looking for a luxurious accommodation in a beautiful rice field setting.

The interior is just as classy and stylish as the villa next door. But there are some differences in the layout of the building.

Unlike Villa Sesapi there is no big living room, however just as you walk through the private entrance you find a small seating area. If you pass the bedroom you can find a small fully equipped kitchen where there is additional seating area as well.

 

 

The bedroom is located in the center of the villa and has a high ceiling which is pretty impressive. Besides the comfortable bed, there is a flat screen equipped with satellite TV.

The wonderful detail about the bedroom is that it's surrounded by windows. So you'll have natural light throughout the day and for some privacy there are of course curtains.

I was already impressed about the bedroom, but to be honest I was a bit taken away when I entered the bathroom.

Not only is it very spacious, with a bathtub and a separate shower but it's semi-open: no walls what so ever...

So from here you can actually walk butt naked on to the grass to the bale where you can relax or straight in to the pool.

There are even stairs from the bathroom that leads you straight into the pool.

Once in the pool you can swim to the other side where Tegal Sari Ubud has built a wall with a big window in it. From here you can gaze over the rice fields. You will be reminded more then once that you are right in the middle of the rice fields...

You don't need to worry that people will see you as the villa is built in such a way that you have total privacy.

I do have to admit that the interior style of both villas at Tegal Sari Ubud are one of my favorites of all of the Bali villas I have seen.

It's not over the top and the natural colors just makes everything very beautiful. It can be considered a Bali luxury villa, but I can imagine that some will find the interior too simple and are hoping for an interior that breaths more luxury.

Despite the amazing villas at Tegal Sari, the management has told me that they are not planning to build any additional villas. Simply because there isn't anymore space.

I think this Tegal Sari Ubud one of the best deals you can get in the Ubud area. So if you want to make sure you spend your holiday in one of their villas, book months ahead since it's a very a very popular place.
