To really have a Ubud spa experience it is alomost a must to pick a spa that has a view on rice fields or is set in a beautiful flower garden.
Ubud spas are known to be located in a beautiful setting as the picturesque character of the village is often found back in the design of the spa's. So when you visit Bali then Ubud is definitely one of the places where you should treat yourself to one.

There are many spas to choose from, of which some are hidden behind walls and found after walking through narrow alleys.
Going to the spa in Ubud seems to be very popular, especially in the late afternoon. The first time we wanted to go to a spa, most of them were fully booked till 21.00. So just to be sure, book ahead.
Most spas are located along Jalan Monkey Forest, but there are other professional and good spas in the north of the village as well.
Surprisingly I was not able to find spas that were worth visiting along the popular Jalan Hanoman.
Here are a couple of Ubud spas where we enjoyed a wonderful Bali spa treatment:
If you are looking for a really memorable Ubud spa experience then you will find it at Pertenin Spa. Not only is the massage there the best we had so far in Bali but the rooms are beautifully decorated and most importantly everything is clean and well maintained.

Massage room at Pertenin Ubud spa
There is one point that we were a little bit disappointed about. The rooms are mostly closed, so no open settings with views over rice fields. Rice field setting or view is what we mostly like about going to a Ubud spa.
But you can't always get it all...
If you just want to have a professtional spa moment and don't mind the setting then you should definitely head to this place.
They have all kinds of treatments: facials, massages and hand and legs treatments. It's very tempting to go for a combination of treatments as they have very attractive packages and the prices are very reasonable.

Soak in the flower bath after your massage...
The facial and Balinese maasage package of 2 hours is just RP. 155.000 while the most extensive package of 4 hours is Rp.300.000. But expect the whole thing: hair treatment, facial, Balinese massage, body scrub, body mask, ending in a flower bath.
You'll probably won't need to relax any more for the rest of your holiday after this!
Make sure you at least call a day before if you want to be sure you can go the following day. They are often fully booked if you just walk in.

Verona Spa is located on Jalan Monkey Forest and it is built right next to the rice fields, so while receiving a body-massage we were far away from the noisy road and we could only hear the ducks quacking away.

Verona Ubud spa is tucked away on Jalan Monkey Forest...
This Ubud Spa offers a wide range of treatments. When I was there with a friend of mine we went for the 1hour Honey Bath Treatment.
This included a full-body massage with honey and oil followed by a scrub, a honey body mask and last but not least...a dip in the flower scented bath overlooking the rice field and blue sky.
Other body-massage treatments are for instance the Tropical fruit bath, Milk Bath, Sea Salt Scrub to remove dead skin and Balinese Boreh to stimulate the blood circulation.
All the reason for me to return to try them all...:-)

My friend enjoying every minute of the treatment...
These body-massages usually last 1 tot 1,5 hour and the prices range from Rp. 100.000 to 150.000. These are really reasonable prices compared to other spas in Ubud.
Besides body-massages the spa also has facial and hair treatments and manicures and pedicures. All these treatments include a massage of the neck, shoulders and arms or feet and lower legs.
For Rp. 75.000 or less (depending on the treatment) you will receive 1 hour of luxury and beautiful hair, face or nails in the end...

Flower petal bath in the middle of the rice fields
If you want to really spoil yourself, go for the packages. These are often a combination of a body-massage with two or more smaller treatments such as a facial or hair cream bath.
There is even a possibility to create your own package...
Make sure you don't make other plans though; these packages can last for 3 hours or more…!
The spa is open daily from 9am to 9pm. They offer free pick up so you don’t have to search for them along Jalan Monkey Forest.
Just call 0361-970975 or 0361-970978 and you are on your way for some pampering...
The whole complex is built for the spa alone and it has a beautiful garden with ponds surrounding the buildings where the treatments are given.
Besides the lush decorated setting, the spa is perfectly located right next to the rice fields which you can admire from your massage table or flower scented bath….
This Ubud spa has 4 double massage rooms with rice field view, 2 double and 2 single massage rooms with garden view. The hair and beauty salon is an open pavilion that faces the rice fields and the garden...

We
took a
seat and glanced at the list of treatments that the spa
offers.
Venezia spa has Body
treatments which involve a combination of acupressure,
deep tissue and
traditional body massage which can last up to 1,5hour.
These massages are than followed by various kinds of masks from which you can choose from and a bath that suits your treatment best.

A great option is to have a pedicure and manicure while having a traditional hair creambath Here a hair mask is applied followed by a scalp, neck and shoulder massage....
So what to choose...?!
We all wanted to go for a full body massage. So Matt's sister and I decided to go for the Flower Bath treatment which includes a fragrant scrub, yogurt moisturizer and of course the flower scented bath...

Matt on the other hand wanted something more spicy and went for the Spice Bath which was described as a traditional massage followed by an 'exhilarating' spice scrub and a bath with herbs and spices.
Both treatments lasted 1hour and 45 minutes and we enjoyed every second of it. The massage area was nice and clean. The certified staff were able to have us all relaxed in no time....
The price range of the treatments are between Rp 80.000 till Rp. 150.000, with the full body massage being the longest and most expensive.
This Ubud spa is open daily from 9.00am till 20.00pm. You can make reservations or if you stay in the Ubud area you arrange a free pick up by calling them at (+62)0361 975715.
