Antique Javanese furniture meets Balinese hospitality at Villa Baja JimbaranIf you're looking for a stylish value for money villa then Villa Baja Jimbaran with its antique Javanese furniture overlooking the stunning Indian ocean is it. You can leave the brochures behind and stop browsing, this is the real thing. From the outside it looks like a normal residential complex, those you see a lot lately in Jimbaran Villa Baja Jimbaran is owned by two owners, one from the island of Jawa and the other from the USA. This international partnership can be found back in the name of the villa. The letters BA are derived from the word 'Barat' meaning 'The west' while the last two letters are taken from the word Jawa. The villa consists of three separate private bedrooms ideal for couples or a family with kids (8 persons in total). Two can be found in the main building and the third one is located in a separate building right next to the swimming pool facing the white sandy beach of Jimbaran bay. It's a cute building with its own little kitchen and a verandah with a library. This is the ideal spot for reading or relaxing. All bedrooms have wonderfully antique decorated en suite bathrooms, walk-in closets and safety deposit boxes. All the furniture you see here is hand-carved and imported from Java, even the tiles were rescued from 150 year old buildings in Java.
There's even an antique Lumbung (rice barn) imported from Lombok island that has been renovated with a loft bedroom, ideal for the kids and includes air conditioning and a cute little verandah. The lumbung is also a good place to have your well-deserved Balinese massages ... ;-)
There's no bathroom in the rice barn but it takes only a couple of steps through the garden to reach the stylish bathroom in the master bedroom, which includes a large bath and spa shower. Every room has modern amenities such as air conditioning, satellite TV and DVD and VCD hifi system, extra mosquito nets and fans. Something that really catches the eye is the jacuzzi and the 13 meters long infinity swimming pool with stunning views. Just have a look here, can you see yourself getting a tan here while the staff brings you a refreshing cocktail?
There are 5 staff members who can assist you with whatever you wish for. They even can do the groceries for you and prepare your complimentary breakfast. They can also arrange a cook who prepares dinner while you watch all the lights of the fishermen boats at sea. By the way don't expect a modern kitchen instead the kitchen at Villa Baja has the charms of a grandmother's kitchen.
If you don't feel like having dinner every night in Villa Baja Jimbaran then there are a couple of excellent places you can go to. Just a five-minute drive and you find seafood restaurants on the beach and various theme restaurants in the resorts around the corner. Try to arrive around 5pm at the seafood restaurants where you can be assured for a perfect sunset spot while playing with your feet in the sand... By the way there's always one staff member available 24/7 who stays behind the villa in another lumbung just above the garage. Tours around the island and rental cars can be arranged through them as well.
Villa Baja Jimbaran is one of those hidden gems and provides exceptional value for money.
