Villa Gils, a Gem on Bali's east coast
Villa Gils is one hell of a Candidasa villa with two floors, 3- bedrooms, a huge private kitchen, classy living room, outdoor dining room, lounge gazebo and a massive private swimming pool.
And all of this is only a stone-throw away from the ocean.
I think this is the best value for money villa in East Bali and I'm not kidding ;-)
This Bali luxury private villa is located in a small traditional Balinese village called Mendira, which is just south of Candidasa. Here it seems that life is still the same as 30 years ago when the first travelers arrived in Candidasa.

The only sounds you hear here are the sounds of the ocean, some chickens and a Balinese dog somewhere in the far distance...
Villa Gils is a huge complex and when you enter the premises the first thing that catches the eye is a 25-meter long swimming pool.

At the end of the pool there's a small section divided by tiles where the kids can play freely. Fortunately there is staff available to keep an eye on them if you like.
The air-conditioned master bedroom is located on the second floor of the main building and en suite you find the bathroom with outdoor and indoor facilities.
On the second floor you also find a spacious living room with TV, DVD and Playstation for the kids. From here you have the best view on the entire villa and above all you can see the ocean from here which is 30 m from the villa.
Furthermore next to the main building there are two more air-conditioned double bedrooms in a separate building with outdoor bathrooms, verandahs and also a great view on the huge garden, the swimming pool and near the walkway to the beach.

Breakfast is prepared for you every morning by the staff in the modern kitchen on the ground floor of the main building.
It can actually be served in one of the two seating areas with Balinese furniture. But since this place is so huge you can also opt for the verandahs or one of the two bales (Balinese pavilions) next to the pool.

One bale is actually the day-bed bale; perfect for two where you can relax, have a traditional Balinese massage, read a book or just enjoy the fresh tropical breeze from the ocean.
Lunch and dinner can also be arranged, just let the 6 friendly full time staff know what you want and they will prepare it for you.

By the way before I forget to tell you all of the staff members at Villa Gils are from the Candidasa area.
They were once unemployed and did not have any real perspectives until the Australian owner decided to build a house here and hired them to provide excellent service to those travelers who are going to love the area as much as she does.
Mrs Wayan, a lovely little Balinese lady is one of the staff members and she manages the villa so she can take care of any request you have.
Her husband can pick you up from the airport in a comfortable Toyota Kijang Innova and he also loves to tour you around the island or drop you of wherever you want.

I think Villa Gils is really the best value for money villa on the east coast of Bali, especially when you come here with 6 friends or a big family. It's definitely the best bargain we found until now in Bali.
For only $355 USD during the peak season ($59 each) or $255 USD during the low season ($43 each) you get the entire gated villa complex with private swimming pool, staff, three air conditioned bedrooms and the sea only a stone-throw away.

Ahhh...that's what a Bali villa vacation always should look like ;-) Unfortunately you won't find many of these deals so make a reservation as soon as possible before others will.
