Villa Novus, beautifully tucked away in a traditional Balinese village...

Peace and quiet with the sound of the little stream in the background; that's what Villa Novus can guarantee you when you are staying in their luxury villas.

This newly renovated villa complex can only be found if you know where to look. The villa is located in Kerobokan, a village next to the popular Seminyak. Kerobokan is however divided into tiny areas, of which Silayukti is one of them.

Here, after passing a traditional Balinese village where children play cheerfully on the streets you will find yourself at the very isolated Villa Novus. 

 

Each villa has their own private entrance...

 

This is definitely the perfect accommodation in Bali for those looking for total peace and quiet far away from the crowd.

And if you do plan to head out, it will be a short drive to the center of Seminyak or to one of Bali beaches that is popular among surfers in Canggu.

Besides total quietness, the beauty of the villa Novus complex also lies in the fact that traditional Bali life is just around the corner.

In the connecting village chances are you witness traditional and unique preparations of ceremonies, important events and other daily activities.

Additionally the villas are surrounded by a crystal clear stream and plenty of rice fields...a typical Balinese picture.

 

The reception

 

Once you arrive at Villa Novus you will be greeted by the friendly staff at the traditional Javanese building which serves as a reception area.

This building is known as a Joglo and is the Central Javanese architectural trademark.

The specific Joglo at this villa complex is about 250 years old and its decorations are just as impressive.

Understandably the owner and staff are very proud of this unique feature which has been put to use perfectly...

Throughout the villas you will find all kinds of these features, especially in the furniture and decorations. Here the antique is beautifully mixed with modern technology and comfort.

The villa complex has 9 villas in total and when we were there they were building 3 other private villas which will be finished by May 2009. These villas are bigger then the existing ones and contain a pool instead of a plunge pool...

Well, till then I'm waiting in anticipation...

 

The existing villas are one-bedroom villas with a kingsize bed, except for the Family Villa where there is an extra room for the children. The names of the villa pretty much indicate whether they have a plunge pool and what's so unique about the place.

The following villas are available at Villa Novus:

• Riverside Pool Villa has a plunge pool and is located next to a small river.
• Riverside Villa does not have a pool but a balcony overlooking the river.
• Corner Pool Villa has a plunge pool and is located at a point where the river bends
• Garden Villa is surrounded by a beautiful tropical garden and does not have a pool
• Pool Villa is set further away from the river and has its own plunge pool.
• Family Villa has a plunge pool, two bedrooms located at the river.

Besides the villa plunge pool there are daybeds and other garden furniture  on a terrace where you can laze away the whole day...

For the villas that do not have a plunge pool do not despair; there are two beautiful and big public swimming pools waiting for you at Villa Novus.

I won't be surprised if you'll have one of the pools all to yourself most of the time.

 

Pool villa bedroom

 

The interior design and facilities of the villas are more or less the same. Every villa has a beautiful writing desk, a modern LCD television, a DVD player, mini bar and coffee/tea making facilities.

 

All villa have a LSD screen, DVD etc...

 

Additionally in the Pool Villa, Garden Villa and Corner Pool Villa there is a semi-open bathroom that is surrounded by tropical plants.

I was really amazed when I saw the bathtub: it is located outside right in the open air.

Just picture soaking away in a bathtub under the stars or by full moon. I can't imagine a more unique place to have a bath...

 

This will be one of the best baths you will have...

 

Besides this unique bath all bathrooms in the other villas are big and are equipped with a shower, a charming antique designed wash basin and a choice of complementary shower products.

Besides the surprising bathroom, I really like the interior design of the bedroom. There isn't too much furniture in it and the big bed with the white linen and drapes attracts your attention immediately.

The minimal decorations of wooden Balinese statues near the bed blends perfectly...

 

Beautiful furniture throughout the villa

 

Another thing that I really like about the design of the Pool Villas is that there is no real living room. Instead the verandah has comfortable chairs and a dining table that can be used as the seating area.

This enables you to sit outside and enjoy the tropical climate any time of the day.

It's a wonderful place to sit during a tropical rain: just put your feet up and listen to the sounds of the rain drops. 

 

 

The premises around the villas are very inviting as well. As mentioned before Villa Novus has two public pools where you can spend the whole day if you want.

First you have the 12.5m pool which is located in the middle of the resort overlooking the small river.

It is surrounded by tropical plants and flowers and there are many comfortable spots where you can enjoy the sun or shade.

 

The other pool is located near the restaurant and is a bit smaller then the pool in the picture above. But it location does make it easier for you to access the restaurant if you feel like getting a bite ;-)

Just like the reception, the character of the restaurant is traditional antique.

And with its open design you can feel the cool breeze and hear the crickets doing their daily routines towards the end of the day...

Shanti Restaurant

 

The restaurant is called Shanti and it serves very reasonable priced Indonesian and Western cuisine.

Since it is connected to the pool, the area around the restaurant is an popular place to organize parties or to hold functions.

The staff is always there to assist you..

 

Besides enjoying the luxury of your own private villa, you can also arrange a spa treatment there as well. You'll be surprised of the long list of spa treatments you can choose from.

The professional trained staff will come to your villa and assist you in choosing the most suitable one.

You can be pampered from head to toe and even be covered in chocolate for almost an hour to reduce tension, stress and to ensure relaxation.

Additionally different forms of massages are offered such as Thai massage, signature massage and of course the traditional Balinese massage.

The plunge pool at the Family Villa

 

For something more cultural you can request a Balinese performance which is performed in your own private villa. Afterwards you will be able to try it out yourself and perhaps discover new talents...

If you stay at Villa Novus you can expect Balinese charm in a very quiet setting.

However I must mention that the distance of the villa can be a down-side for some travellers.

 

The public pool near the restaurant...

This is the ideal place if you have nothing planned and just want to relax. But if you want to visit the beach, restaurants and shops in Seminyak and the other villages in the Kuta area then you are dependent on transportation.

It is not an option to walk for 30 minutes because of the busy road you have to take.

The villa can arrange pick-up from the airport upon arrivial, a private driver for daytours but if you are at the villa and want to go to town then you have to order a taxi.

So keep in mind what you want to do on your holiday and if the distance doesn't matter than Villa Novus is a great option for a very secluded romantic get-away.
