Wahyu Restaurant, a Balinese Culinary Treat in Ubud
We found the Wahyu Restaurant by accident. We were actually looking for another place to eat but at the end we found ourselves having dinner at Wahyu. This Restaurant is surprisingly quiet considering their good food. Perhaps they are not easily found due to their location. You can find the restaurant at Dewisita Street, a small street right next to the football field on the other side of Jalan Monkey Forest. The staff is very friendly and they just made us smile every time they came to our table.
The restaurant by day…
Wahyu serves Western and Indonesian food. All the meals sounded so good, it was really hard to choose. They also have specials, which might change every once in a while.
At that time they had a typical Balinese dish: Ikan Pepes. This is fish wrapped in banana leave which is then roasted. A real treat and worth coming back for... My girlfriend immediately fell for their vegetarian Nasi Campur. Nasi Campur is a mix of small dishes served together on one plate. Indonesians are not really into the vegetarian food and usually there is only a choice of vegetable dishes. But Wahyu had a selection of vegetarian dishes and at the look of my girlfriends face the Nasi Campur was certainly a surprising delicious feast. She kept on repeating how tasty the tempe Sate was and that the vegetable curry was just super. I won’t be surprised if we end up at this place again...
The restaurant by night…
When we had dinner there it was already pretty dark and the restaurant was lit by candle light. It was a wonderful place to have dinner but unfortunately not the best circumstances to make pictures. So just go, see and experience their food when you happen to be in Ubud.
