Go organic at Juice Ja Cafe...

Half way Jalan Dewi Sita you can find the Juice Ja Cafe. It is a perfect place to get a light healthy organic meal or something more refreshing like their frozen yoghurt.

What attracted me the first time when I went in were the two balconies where you can sit overlooking the street. On one balcony you can sit comfortably on the floor where a low table is surrounded by pillows.

The other one has a nice round wooden table and on the background they have painted a huge colourful painting of the mischievous monkeys of the Monkey Forest.

The place promotes all kinds of stuff concerning organic food, environmental conservations and equity. Here you can also find a lot of information on organizations focused on these issues or where the organic farms around Ubud are located and what their goals are.

What the cafe promotes, they serve. In their menu most of the dishes are prepared with organic ingredients. They also serve organic coffee, a list of juices in small and large sizes and what I always wanted to taste: wheat-grass juice.

Ever since I read about the healthy, energy and cleansing power of pure wheat-grass I was hoping to try it out myself. So when I saw it on the menu I had a go. They serve it in ‘shots’ because you only need a little of it a time.

To be honest...it tastes pretty strange and strong in a bad kind of way. But like many super healthy stuff you just have to get used to the taste before you start to appreciate it.

Anyway, if you want to wash away the nasty taste you can always order from the wide selection of organic homemade cakes...
